CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING TO OUR RIGHTS

Hello dear teachers,

How was your week? I would like to hear all about it?

As you know as teachers in a pandemic situation we depend on our internet connection,  this means we need to pay for the internet service an even if we do sometimes the companies that provided us with the internet services have problems too, so they left us with connecting problems, that doesn’t allow us to attend class or to give class and sometimes teachers or students are not as understanding as we wish even though this types of problems are not within our hands to fix.

I think that during this difficult times it is a blessing to have our jobs and I am very greatful for all of us that still have a job, but sadly everything is elevating their costs and the salary we made it is not enough to pay the best internet service or the best computer, so we do as we can and pay the type of service that we can so we can keep working.

Let me tell you it is not that I have a socialist perspective on how things should be done in the society but it the duty of the boss to give the worker the instruments to work and in this case ad list understand if the works have bad internet.

And as students the constitution give us the right to study for free, meaning  that public education should have no cost and I think giving the current situation education is everything but free talking about the access to it.

You know I am a lawyer too, so I wonder…

Would you said they are violating our educational rights?

 O my right to work?

Thank you guys!

I’ll be reading you! Xo.

  1. I AGREE WITH YOU IT´S VERY FRUSTRATING TO BE LIVING THIS BAD RECEPTION. ALSO I THINK THAT THE SCHOOL SHOULD HELP US PAY THE FEE OF OUR INTERNET RECEPTION.

  2. You´re so right! I see both parts as a student and as a teacher. Some of my studenst don´t connect because they have recharging internet and sometimes when they enter their credit runs out.
On the other hand I needd a computer!!! I share it with my son and the truth is that I prefer that my son do his homework even if I wake up to make my plans.

  3. I totally understand what you're saying! I actually had to get a new laptop so that things could run faster and I would have a webcam but unfortunately, this new laptop keeps freezing at random times! So I've become so paranoid on saving my work in case my laptop decides it's a great time to lose my whole progress.

As for the internet, I have 2 cousins that live with me that are also taking online classes so the internet becomes slow when we are all using it at the same time. It works fine when it's just one of us having class but it can be annoying when frames start to drop during a meeting and you don't understand what the teacher said!

The government should help us out a little by lowering the fees or something of the like.

  4. Hi Dam!

I fully understand what you say, on the one hand, nowadays it is a great blessing to have a job, but I agree with you that our boss should pay for the internet we use or at least contribute an amount as support since we do not earn large sums of money. However, I believe that if the service for which we sacrifice to pay were good, there would not be much problem, finally, it contributes to better perform our function as teachers.
On the other han, I think that even in the United States they have connectivity problems and with good reason since due to the online classes, we are many people who connect on the different devices in which we work at different times.
I hope that this situation will change very soon for the good of all.
